Industry Funded Research Project:
Development of Hydrophobic Admixture for Concrete
Dr. Prakash Mehta (CEO Tawata Technologies) with Dr. Santosh G. Shah, Director (Innovation)
Concrete structures once cured are venerable upon exposure to water. Presence of water in concrete induced
many chemical reactions that are responsible for deterioration of the structure. The important chemical reactions that are known are ASR, Carbonation, Sulfate attack, Corrosion, Acid rain etc. These reactions
possibility can significantly be reduced by hydrophobic admixture. AguaProof is new generation organosilicon based product specially designed for hydrophobic admixture for concrete.
The Principal Investigator Dr. Santosh G Shah and Co-Investigator Dr. Lalit Thakur from Department of Civil Engineering, BITS Edu Campus, will work on developing hydrophobic admixture for concrete.

Fab Lab BITS
BITS Edu Campus is in process of developing a FAB LAB which is a small-scale workshop offering digital fabrication. The FAB LAB will be equipped with an array of flexible computer-controlled tools that cover several different length scales and various materials, with the aim to make “almost anything”.
